The Canandaigua Wine Trail that begins nearby is a collection of award-winning wineries amid some of the region's most spectacular landscapes. For spectacular water views, board the Canandaigua Lady, a replica 19th-century paddlewheel steamboat offering narrated sightseeing cruises from May through mid-October. Finger Lakes Scenic Railway excursions from Canandaigua include scenic rides, seasonal events and wine tasting dinners.
Another place to take in beautiful scenery is Sonnenberg Gardens, a Victorian-era country estate with a mansion, a crystal-palace greenhouse complex and nine formal gardens filled with thousands of blossoms, marble cupids, reflecting pools and fountains. You can take in a concert at the CMAC Performing Arts Center, summer home of the Rochester Philharmonic Orchestra.
Canandaigua’s annual Waterfront Art Festival presents the work of nearly 200 artists every July at Kershaw Park. On the north shore of Canandaigua Lake, the park also has a beautiful beach, walking trails, picnic grounds and a boat launch.
