Set beside the storied Queen of American Lakes, the village of Lake George is fun in every season. If the weather's warm, relax on the sand after a swim at
Lake George Beach. Later you can take a narrated dinner cruise with one of the big steamship lines, including
Lake George Steamboat Company and
Shoreline Cruises. After you hear about local
history on a cruise, see it come to life with battle reenactments at the
Fort William Henry Museum.
In autumn the foliage is spectacular, and in February there's a winter carnival every weekend with
winter sports and activities such as snowmobile races, skating, ice-fishing and ice-sculpting. Springtime is perfect for a drive to the top of
Prospect Mountain for a 100-mile view beyond the lake and mountains.
Shopping on Canada Street and in nearby designer outlets, followed by dinner in one of Lake George's many unique
restaurants, is a popular year-round tradition.
For kids, and the young at heart, not too many activities can beat a trip to
Great Escape and Splashwater Kingdom or
Water Slide World. When you stay at the year-round
Six Flags Great Escape Lodge, the fun continues no matter what the weather. Your suite includes admission to White Water Bay, a giant indoor waterpark with slides, lazy rivers, simulated waves, and a special "sun roof" that lets you work on your tan year-round.
