Port Jefferson

Whether you are on a day trip or a longer stay, you'll find an ambiance in this historic waterfront village on Long Island that characterizes Main Street, USA.

Stroll the waterfront, browse the unique shops and boutiques, and enjoy fine or casual outdoor dining with water views. East and West Beaches, open from mid-June until Labor Day, offer more than two miles of shoreline for sunbathing, fishing or just strolling on the sand. Visit the Historical Society, check out the nightlife or catch a performance at TheatreThree on Main Street, featuring comedy, concerts, and an annual festival of one-act plays.

Walkways at Harborfront Park lead to a pier jetting 350 feet out onto Port Jefferson Harbor. Nearby, the Village Center hosts a variety of concerts, art exhibits and other special events, as well as a waterside Farmers Market every Sunday from May to October. Listen to live music, and take in stunning views of Long Island Sound, as you shop for fresh local produce, baked goods, seafood and flowers.

The annual Summer Harborside Concert Series in Memorial Park features some of Long Island’s finest musical ensembles. Every September, the Setauket Yacht Club hosts a sailboat regatta and race between village employees and the staff and doctors of Mather Hospital to raise funds for charity.

If you visit in December, don’t miss the wonderful Dickens Festival, an annual village celebration featuring an old-fashioned marketplace, carriage and trolley rides, lantern-lit tours of historic homes, costumed characters, decorated streets and shops, Victorian-era entertainment, festive food and a Grand Final Parade.
