Don't forget your camera when you visit Sackets Harbor. Set amid some of the most beautiful scenery in the nation, the entire town is a picturesque history lesson. Surrounded by sparkling blue waters, it's also a playground for boating, swimming, scuba diving, and
fishing. You can browse the village shops, see living
military history demonstrations at
Sackets Harbor Battlefield, visit
Old McDonald's Farm Village, or have a few laughs at
Lake Ontario Playhouse comedy club.
Nearby Westcott Beach State Park is popular for picnicking,
hiking, and
camping on the bluff overlooking Lake Ontario. You'll drift off to sleep under a million stars after taking in a spectacular sunset. There's a white sand
beach for swimming and a marina that's a hot spot for catching Lake Ontario's trophy black bass. The Can-Am Festival celebrates every July, with tall ships, a parade and fireworks. In August, the
Jazz Festival attracts world-renowned musicians.
