Hudson-Athens Lighthouse

Located on a wide expanse of the majestic Hudson River, Athens in Greene County, boasts a collection of more than 100 Victorian homes nestled among its tree-lined streets. So picturesque is this tiny village that two major motion pictures - Tom Cruise’s "War of the Worlds" and Meryl Streep’s "Ironweed" - were filmed there. Tours of the Hudson-Athens Lighthouse are available on a seasonal basis from Athens Riverfront Park, where the beacon can be viewed year-round.
