Stroll along tree-lined lanes in a Victorian village at the Chautauqua Institution. Check out this summer’s season of world-class performances, from Grammy-winner Pablo Ziegler’s Classical Tango Quartet to the amazing Golden Dragon Acrobats. Jamestown, Lucille Ball’s hometown, welcomes visitors from around the world to the Lucille Ball-Desi Arnaz Center, where a museum and playhouse highlight America’s First Couple of Comedy.
This region is full of homegrown flavor. Roadside stands and farm markets offer sweet corn, berries, apples and tons of grapes! Along the scenic Chautauqua/Lake Erie Wine Trail, from Ripley to Silver Creek, more than 20 wineries offer tours and events. Follow New York’s Amish Trail to more than 100 shops with farm-fresh produce, hand-crafted furniture and baked goods.
Great events include the Wellsville Balloon Rally and Ellicottville’s Championship Rodeo in July. Music flows all summer at the Bemus Bay Pops Concert Series presented on a giant floating stage on Chautauqua Lake.
