Albany Welcomes the LPGA Symetra Tour Next Month

2013 marks the 29th year the tour has been played in the Capital Region; supports local non-profits

ALBANY, NY - The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB) is proud to welcome the Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA players and fans to Capital Hills Golf Course next month. This will be the tenth year the tour has taken place at Capital Hills and the 29th year the tour has been played in the Capital Region.

Billed as The Credit Union Challenge, the tour will be bringing more than 140 players from 34 countries to Albany on July 8 - 14 to compete for a $100,000 purse. Some of the players include Sue Kim, Laura Kueny, Jaclyn Sweeny, Melissa Eaton, and Giulia Molinaro - all of which are listed on the Money List, a listing of the top earners for the tour.

"This tour brings some of the best names in women's golf to Albany and we couldn't be happier to once again host this impressive tournament," states Michele Vennard, President/CEO of the ACCVB. "We encourage fans to experience the tournament while they have the opportunity."

Local sponsors for the event include SEFCU, Sunmark Federal Credit Union, and Burns-Fazzi | Brock. Proceeds from the tournament will also be donated to the Boys & Girls Club of Albany.

Fans of the LPGA will have the opportunity to win a prize basket and meet and greet opportunity during the tournament from the ACCVB. More details can be found online at www.albany.org/symetra.

The Symetra Tour, Road to the LPGA will also be making a stop at the Dumlins Country Club in Syracuse, NY, from July 16 - 28 for the Credit Union Classic.
