FEATURED
Details

An official Path Through History Site! The Akwesasne Cultural Center houses a public library upstairs and a museum downstairs. The museum is best known for its spectacular Mohawk black ash and sweetgrass basketry collection. The museum shop offers a wide selection of basketry, beadwork, and other items. Much can be learned about Akwesasne by simply dropping in to walk through the Akwesasne Cultural Center - Museum on your own. There are videos to watch, text to read, coloring pages for kids, an audio stand with various songs by local artists, and even a small sandbox for fun in the exhibit area that ties in the turtle from Creation to the respect for Mother Earth and the Mohawk culture. An extensive photo collection can be sampled at the touchscreen computer.
