An official Path Through History Site! Experience 19th Century life on the Niagara Frontier, touring historic homes, gardens, churches, one-room schoolhouses and a working blacksmith shop. The exhibit's collection includes paintings, prints, furniture, ceramics, woodworking, metalworking, and textile working tools, many of which have a history of the Niagara Frontier or a specific connection to Amherst. The exhibit also includes an extensive textile collection as well as a nationally recognized Wedding Gown Collection. The historic homes, churches, a blacksmith shop and one-room schoolhouses help visitors to learn firsthand what life was like in the 19th century. Learn about local history through exhibits on agriculture, costumes, antique radios and pioneer kitchen. Learn about the Erie Canal in our unique interactive exhibit and climb aboard our replica canal packet boat.
