The Foundry was established in 1994 to assemble artists with revolutionary ideas for the theatre and the world in which it is situated. We commission, develop and premiere plays that explore the (im)possibilities of theatre and believe our body of work makes a passionate case for its limitless imaginative potential. We also host annual dialogue series and community engagement programs that bring artists together with other community stakeholders to explore how we create the world together. There is great vitality in a community of individuals who have committed their lives to theatre, not in service of a career, but to participate in creating a broader vision, to be part of a progressive community whose ideas, art and actions might challenge what is unacceptable in the status quo. The Foundry is committed to re-investigating that ideal and staking out a new relevancy for theatre and the artists who make it in the fabric of our citizenry.
