Van Wyck Homestead Museum

An official Path Through History Site! A Dutch Colonial house built by farmer Cornelius Van Wyck. During the Revolutionary War, the home served as headquarters for the Fishkill supply depot for the Continental Army, visited by George Washington, the Marquis de Lafayette, Alexander Hamilton, and John Jay. The home was also the site of the mock trial of Continental spy Enoch Crosby, allegedly the basis for James Fenimore Cooper`s novel, The Spy. The home contains original woodwork, archaeological relics from the depot, period furniture, and displays of Colonial crafts. There are Hudson Valley portraits, exhibits and events, local history and genealogy library, children's programs, annual craft show & holiday open house, and a gift shop.
