Wyckoff Farmhouse Museum

Details

An official Path Through History Site! Pieter Claesen Wyckoff arrived in the New Netherlands in 1637. After serving his indenture to the van Rensselaer family, he and his wife, Grietje van Nes, settled in what is now East Flatbush-Flatlands, Brooklyn, where Wyckoff became a successful farmer and magistrate. The Wyckoff Farmhouse, built circa 1652, is the oldest structure in NYC. Generations of Wyckoffs enlarged and altered the House and continued to farm the land until 1901. A National Historic Landmark, this rustic building is New York City’s oldest structure and was a working farm until 1901. Visitors to the museum learn about the daily, agrarian lives of the region’s earliest Dutch and English immigrants and can tour the surrounding gardens growing heirloom herbs and produce, and pop-up farmer’s markets and workshops during the warmer months. A Path Through History attraction.
