Excitement will be in the air is we head out to meet Brewmaster, Doug Thayer, of ROOSTERFISH CRAFT BREWING in Watkins Glen. Among being the home of NASCAR's first Grand Prix and now home to NASCAR in the Finger Lakes, Watkins Glen is also the home of the first farm Craft Brewery in New York State. Everyone has been "crowing" about this location lately with all the publicly he has been receiving! We'll sample his delicious Craft Brews & take a tour.
Then, stop for a scrumptious Lunch at The CROOKED ROOSTER, don't forget the dessert! Everything is made in their own bakery on site!
We will drive North on the West side of Seneca Lake about 5 miles to the area's newest winery owned by newcomer, Scott Bernstein, called BARNSTORMER WINERY. They have excellent wines for just starting out, but you will see for yourself how they took this place by "storm"
As we take our time enjoying the beautiful countryside & our day exploring the rolling country hillsides with breathtaking vineyards and grapevine vistas.
We drive up the east side of Seneca Lake toWAGNER BREWING home of the famous "Sled Dog" Triple Boc and sample their Craft Beers & take the Tour.
Then, on our way back, going South, we will stop atJR DILL WINERY. This is also a relatively new winery and is known for its "glass bar" - all the glass that has washed up on the shores of Seneca Lake. They also have some unique wines & some great entertainment nights they put together for everyone to enjoy.
Our last stop on our "Progressive Spirit Tour" isFINGER LAKES DISTILLING. FLD is a rare, exclusive gem to the region producing high quality, award winning, premium spirits. Here, where you will find gin, vodka, whiskey, scotch, ... You name it... You won't want to leave the tasting room which overlooks the picturesque distilling facility. Let's go in & take the tour & see this phenomenal process!
After a colorful tour we will start our relaxing scenic glacier mountain expanse trip back home passing through two smaller Finger Lakes -Waneta & Lamoka. This is home of a US National Marker of the "oldest prehistoric Indian Site" - pretty amazing!
We are almost back to Hammondsport, birthplace of Glenn Curtiss, famous inventor of airplanes & motorcycles!
Now, home at 18 Vine Inn for the evening you can refresh for a lovely stroll for two short blocks to the village for an enjoyable dinner.
