Adirondack Rivers

Lake George Area Escape

(1 Day)

tours-map-adirondackThere's no better way to see magnificent Lake George and the surrounding Adirondack Mountains than aboard one of the cruise ships in Lake George Village. Cruise close to shore around remote islands and secluded bays on Lake George Shoreline Cruises. Or, enjoy a popular luncheon cruise with entertainment on board the Lac Du St. Sacrament, the largest of three cruise ships at Lake George Steamboat Company.

Next, enjoy a scenic ride north on I-87 to the town of Pottersville and take a self-guided tour of caves, grottoes waterfalls and the largest marble cave entrance in the east at Natural Stone Bridge & Caves. Covered pavilions, gemstone mining and a world-class rock shop await the adventurer.

Or, you can spend the afternoon at the Adirondack Folk School in Lake Luzerne, west of Lake George Village on Rte 9N. The school is the only one of its kind in the country dedicated to teaching the arts, crafts and culture of this unique Adirondack Region. Participate in hands-on activities such as woodcarving, twig furniture building, fly-tying and more. Spend the evening relaxing at one of the unique eating establishments in the area.

Breathtaking lake views await you at the historic Boathouse Restaurant or enjoy some hometown hospitality and locally crafted beer at Davidson Bros. Brewery & Restaurant in downtown Glens Falls. You'll have no problem finding accommodations in these leaf-peeper-friendly spots!
