Wassaic, N.Y. - The Wassaic Project, an artist-run multidisciplinary arts organization in its seventh year, is proud to announce its 2014 film festival selections, which highlights the best contemporary emerging filmmakers in international and American independent cinema.  New to the festival this year is a first of its kind partnership with Short of the Week as well as a surprise Midnight Movie. Located in the Maxon Mills, Luther Barn and sprawling fields of the hamlet of Wassaic, New York, The Wassaic Project Summer Festival - a FREE multi-disciplinary celebration of art, music, film, dance, food, and community will take place from August 1-3, 2014.

Performances Begin July 10th for The Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company

Powerhouse TheatrePoughkeepsie, N.Y. - The Vassar & New York Stage and Film Powerhouse Theater Apprentice Company performance season kicks off on Thursday, July 10 and will run through Monday, July 21. The ambitious season will include productions of Figures, a devised performance created for and performed in the Vassar campus's Frances Lehman Loeb Art Center through the use of the live composing sign language called "soundpainting." A workshop performance of resident Ugandan playwright Margaret Namulyanga's Privileged Life of Cats will also perform at the Art Center, followed by panel discussions on LGBTQ community both locally in Hudson Valley, and in central Uganda.

Thomas Cole National Historic Site GroundbreakingCatskill, N.Y. - The earth moved at the Thomas Cole National Historic Site on Thursday, July 3rd, as New York State Parks Commissioner Rose Harvey joined Thomas Cole Executive Director Elizabeth Jacks and 100 other friends and dignitaries, to break ground on the reconstruction site for Cole's "New Studio."

"This is a day that many people have been thinking about and dreaming about for a long time," said Ms. Jacks.

Garnerville, N.Y. - Artist-photographer Spencer Tunick, artist in residence at GARNER Arts Center (formerly GAGA), is opening his studio to visitors this Sunday, June 29th from 1:00-4:00PM. Best known for organizing large-scale nude installations, since 1994 he has created over 75 temporary site-specific installations in the United States and abroad. Tunick's installations encompass dozens, hundreds or thousands of live, nude volunteers in public spaces.
