Mets to Host Irish Heritage Night at Citi Field on Friday, Aug. 1 vs. The San Francisco Giants

NY MetsFlushing, N.Y. - The New York Mets announced Irish Heritage Night will take place this Friday, August 1 at Citi Field when the Mets host the San Francisco Giants at 7:10 p.m.

Dubbed by Jimmy Fallon as "New York City's house band for the last 30 years," Black 47 will perform on the Mets Plaza, located outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, beginning at 6:00 p.m. as part of their farewell tour. Fans will be entertained by on field pre-game performances beginning around 6:30 p.m. by Irish Step Dancers as well as in-game programming that celebrates Irish culture.

In 2013 New York City Welcomed an Estimated 16.7 Million Family Visitors

New York, N.Y. - NYC & Company, New York City's official tourism, marketing and partnership organization, today announced Curious George® as its sixth Official NYC Family Ambassador, a joint effort with NBCUniversal, Houghton Mifflin Harcourt (HMH) and PBS KIDS. As part of the yearlong collaboration, adventurous explorer Curious George will encourage family travel to the City's five boroughs by highlighting New York City as a family-friendly destination. In 2013 New York City welcomed an estimated 16.7 million family visitors, a 3.1 percent projected increase over 2012, contributing approximately $16.5 billion in direct spending to New York City's economy. Since the launch of the Family Ambassador program in 2009, family visitation to New York City has grown by 26.5 percent and currently comprises 30.8 percent of total visitation to New York City.

New York, N.Y. - In 1913 the Woolworth Building, hailed by architectural critics as an engineering marvel, soared 792 feet high into the lower Manhattan skyline, making it the tallest building in the world at that time. The awe-inspiring, technologically advanced steel frame structure was designed by renowned architect Cass Gilbert. In addition to the skyscraper's mechanical underbelly, which featured highspeed elevator service, self-sustaining electrical power generation, heating, cooling, water supply and fire protection, its grand lobby was recognized as a stunning and picturesque work of art.

The annual juried exhibition is now in its 12th year. P.S. Achilles by A Touch of Modern Governors Island to be home to works by innovative artists for 2014 season

New York, N.Y. - FIGMENT, a free, family-friendly participatory arts event held in multiple cities and attracting tens of thousands of participants each year, has announced its Summer-Long Sculptures for its 2014 season in New York City. Since its inception in 2008, over 100,000 visitors annually have enjoyed and interacted with FIGMENT NYC's Summer-Long Program.

This year, FIGMENT has selected four large-scale sculptures for the 2014 Summer-Long Sculpture Exhibition, from over 50 proposals submitted.
