Adirondack Region, N.Y. - Fall in the Adirondack Region of Northern New York offers one of the longest fall foliage seasons in the country as well as a variety of scenic tours that explore the history and beauty of the region's mountains and lakes.

Across the Adirondacks, autumn opens the doors to unique fall tours and cherished traditions, including:

Behind-the-Scenes Tour of Fort Ticonderoga will be offered on Thursday, September 18 with Adirondack Architectural Heritage (AARCH). Fort Ticonderoga is one of the oldest and most significant military fortresses in America's history. Guided tour scheduled for 10 am - 4 pm. Lunch included. Cost is $65 for non-AARCH members.

Saratoga and Warren County Tourism Offices Join DONYS in Hosting Group Travel Show

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - Over 60 group tour and international receptive operators, and 120 group leaders, will be in attendance at the Annual Destinations of New York (DONYS) Group Travel Show taking place on Tuesday, September 9th at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Exhibitors will represent attractions, transportation, accommodations, restaurants, entertainment and travel promotion agencies from up and sown the east coast. Those companies will book group tour business for five or more years out, making a considerable return on their investment in attending the trade show. In addition to the Trade Show, attendees will go on area familiarization tours of both counties and participate in seminars specifically for the group tour market.

The Wild Center Announces Major Property Acquisition

Tupper Lake, N.Y. - The Wild Center announced today the acquisition of 50 acres of Raquette River front property made possible by a group of supporters. The new acquisition adjoins the Center's current 31-acre site and includes significant river-frontage on the Raquette River, a seasonal building and wetland habitat.

Cyclists ride towards Whiteface mountain in the Adirondacks.Registration is open for the first fully supported week-long tour in the region; created to benefit the Adirondack Park Saranac Lake, N.Y. - The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) today announced Cycle Adirondacks, a week-long, road bike tour through the Adirondack Park featuring daily routes that will allow riders to be immersed in the forests, lakes, streams and abundant wildlife habitat of the famed Adirondack region. Local WCS wildlife experts will be on hand all week to provide information on wildlife and other natural history. Registration is now open for the ride, which will take place August 23-29, 2015.

The Wilderness Within: A Social Media Workshop

Tupper Lake, N.Y. - Join artist Holly Friesen on Monday, September 8th at 10:00 am at The Wild Center for The Wilderness Within. Poet and ecologist Gary Snyder said "It is in the deep mind that wilderness and the unconscious become one, and in some half-understood but very profound way, our relation to the outer ecologies seems conditioned by our inner ecologies. This is a metaphor, but it is also literal." Artist Holly Friesen will speak about this very phenomena in the making of her own contemporary landscape paintings. Holly is a working artist based out of Montreal, Canada and has painted the boreal forests and precambrian rock of Northern Quebec for decades.

Wilmington, N.Y. - It will be the happiest 1.5-mile run, when youngsters, ages 6-12, participate in the Whiteface Mountain Uphill Foot Race Kids' Fun Run, Saturday, Sept. 13. This non-competitive run begins at 8:15 a.m. and follows Santa from the base of the Whiteface Mountain Veterans' Memorial Highway to Santa's Workshop.

The Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll slated for the weekend of December 12 - 14, celebrates its 7th year in 2014 - and this small-town festival will return with several new additions and special events.
