Wild Center in NYCTupper Lake, N.Y. - This month millions of commuters are getting a taste of Tupper Lake and the Adirondacks, courtesy of a brand new ad now running on subways, buses and signs in and around New York City. The ad features an image from the Raquette River taken by Wild Center board member, Rick Godin, a few years ago.

Hillarie Logan-Dechene, the Center's Director of Philanthropy, recently attended the Governor's Tourism Summit and was approached by an I LOVE NEW YORK staff member who wanted to include the Center in their ‘Get Outta Town' campaign. I LOVE NEW YORK, the state tourism bureau, launched the campaign last year, encouraging those in New York City to explore other areas of the state.

Wilmington, N.Y. --- Although work is underway to repair the Whiteface Mountain Veterans' Memorial Highway, organizers of the 37th annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Foot Race, say that the race will go on as scheduled, Saturday, Sept. 13. "The current construction will cause minimal effect to the event," said race organizer and director of the Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau Michelle Burns. "I'm confident that racers will enjoy their experience this year, just like they have over the past 36 years of this race."

22nd Annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show Taking Place Aug. 3

2013 Best of Show CarTiconderoga, N.Y. - The 22nd Annual Ticonderoga Area Car Show will be held Sunday, August 3, 2014 in Ticonderoga's Bicentennial Park from 9:00 AM - 4:00 PM. There will be a variety of awards given out including Best of Show Car, Best of Show Truck, Best of Show Motorcycle, Best of Show Display, 1 Super Wheels Prize Package, Chambers Choice, Fans Choice, Most Radical Engine, Best Color Scheme, Favorite Antique, and Best Work In Progress. In addition Top 25 and Fabulous 50 awards will be given. The show is a judged show and a "SuperWheels Showdown" Qualifier. The first 150 people registered will receive a dash plaque and there will be a variety of special giveaways for pre-registered vehicles.

Beginning Saturday, July 5, extreme tubing will be available Tuesday through Saturday from 3:30-6:30 p.m.  Additional hours are also being offered Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon- 2 p.m.

Lake Placid, N.Y. - At a presentation Thursday afternoon (June 19), AAA Northway President and CEO James Phelps presented Ed and Lisa Weibrecht, owners of Mirror Lake Inn Resort and Spa, with the prestigious AAA Four Diamond Award for the 30th year in a row.

The time-honored property dates back to the 1920s. It is the second longest running AAA Four Diamond property in the entire state, behind just The Carlyle in Manhattan. In addition, The View Restaurant, located inside the hotel, collected the Four Diamond achievement for the seventh straight year.
