Master, Mentor, Master: Thomas Cole & Frederic Church Exhibition Now on View

Frederic Church, New England Landscape, 1847. Colorado Springs Fine Art Center Catskill, N.Y. -- The new exhibition of landscape masterpieces by Frederic Church and Thomas Cole is now open at the Thomas Cole Historic Site, featuring twenty artworks from 1844-1850, focusing on the early work of Church when he began studying with Cole in Catskill, New York. The exhibition includes plein air studies by Church when he was an 18-year-old apprentice as well as large, highly finished and stunningly skillful paintings that were completed just a few years later. Compare Church's work to Cole's from the same time period as they covered the same territory together.

Catskill, N.Y. - The Catskill Golf Club, a former membership course since 1928, located on Brooks Lane in Catskill, New York, is opening to the public for the first time today, May 1. Under new ownership and recently renovated, you can now "pay when you play" on one of the Hudson Valley's top 18 hole golf courses while experiencing the scenic beauty of the Northern Catskill Mountains. The pool and tennis facilities open June 1.
