Bristol MountainCanandaigua, N.Y. - Mother Nature has made herself known over the past week and Bristol Mountain has taken advantage of the earlier than normal frigid temperatures to get a jump on snowmaking operations. With one of the earliest start dates in their history, Bristol Mountain will kick off their 51st season today, Thursday, November 20th. The earliest opening date on record was November 9, 1991. Last year the season began on November 26th and ran for 134 days. "We couldn't be happier", says spokesperson, Drew Broderick. "Our snowmaking team has been working very since last Friday night when they started up the snowguns. The very low temperatures have been perfect for snowmaking."

Cyclists ride towards Whiteface mountain in the Adirondacks.Registration is open for the first fully supported week-long tour in the region; created to benefit the Adirondack Park Saranac Lake, N.Y. - The Wildlife Conservation Society (WCS) today announced Cycle Adirondacks, a week-long, road bike tour through the Adirondack Park featuring daily routes that will allow riders to be immersed in the forests, lakes, streams and abundant wildlife habitat of the famed Adirondack region. Local WCS wildlife experts will be on hand all week to provide information on wildlife and other natural history. Registration is now open for the ride, which will take place August 23-29, 2015.
