Waverly’s Attic Street Auction and Festival Taking Place Aug. 9

Tioga County, N.Y. - The 2nd annual Waverly's Attic event, a fundraiser for the Susquehanna River Archaeological Center (SRAC), will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Broad Street in Waverly, NY on August 9, 2014. Broad Street will be closed from Pennsylvania Avenue to Waverly Street and will be filled with street and food vendors, free children's games and prizes, music, a Chinese auction, and many other activities. All of these activities will be centered on a huge street auction that will start at noon and will include antiques, household goods, and even some rare local collectibles. Some of these items include a band drum marked "1901 - Waverly," a wooden box with "Waverly Sugar Bowl," a banner from the centennial celebration of Waverly, NY in 1954, milk bottles from Towanda, Elmira, and other localities, an Ingersoll Rand plate and Lehigh Valley Railroad memorabilia.

Syracuse, N.Y.- Destiny USA celebrates its two-year anniversary on Saturday, August 2. The shopping, dining and entertainment destination was rebranded from Carousel Center to Destiny USA on August 2, 2012, after the expansion opened to the public. It's been a busy year for Destiny USA between its increased tourism outreach, expanded programming and new marketing initiatives.

Skaneateles' Curbstone Festival and Sidewalk Sales return July 17-19 along Genesee, Jordan and Fennell streets. Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday and Friday and 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday. The event, featuring more than 30 merchants, is organized by the Skaneateles Area Chamber of Commerce. "The Curbstone Festival is a great opportunity for unique bargains and family fun," says Executive Director Tara Lynn. Among the sales and specials sure to delight shoppers: • Imagine will offer sales on jewelry, art glass, pottery, wood art and fiber art. • Fleur-de-lis Florist will feature Steals and Deals, including items marked down by 50 to 75 percent. • Rhubarb Kitchen Shop will offer 50 percent off a wide array of kitchen gadgets, acrylic ware and cooking accessories. Cooking demos will be given Friday by the executive chef from Wustof Cutlery.

Summer Fun Day PassVoucher program allows families to pay one price to visit four entertainment venues for the day

Syracuse, N.Y.- Destiny USA will launch its Summer Fun Day Pass on July 1 for families and friends to enjoy the many entertainment venues available at the facility at a discounted rate. The program will run from July 1 to August 31, 2014.

The Summer Fun Day Pass is a booklet of vouchers guests can purchase at one cost to trade in for admission tickets to the participating venues.

Tykes Tuesday & Regal Summer Movie Express return to Destiny USA

Kids can see a movie for $1, and then enjoy entertaining events during this fun-filled summer

Syracuse, N.Y.- Destiny USA is hosting Tykes Tuesday again this year in conjunction with Regal Summer Movie Express. The programs are perfect for families who are looking for something to do while the kids are on summer break.

Tykes Tuesday will be in the Canyon Area every Tuesday from July 1 to August 26 from noon to 2 p.m. The nine-week program will be packed with entertainment from an appearance by Clifford the Big Red Dog to demonstrations by the Syracuse Police Department.

The challenge, which was held from January 1 to February 28, included participating grades 4, 5 and 6. The vision of this challenge was to increase awareness of locally-owned and operated businesses in the city of Oswego.

Destiny USA reaches LEED© milestone with new stores

Destiny USASyracuse, N.Y.- Fifty-one spaces at Destiny USA have achieved formal LEED© certification status from the United States Green Building Council with The Cheesecake Factory and Lucky Brand both achieving LEED© certification this month.

Destiny USA achieved certification in February 2012 and established a precedent that all new stores within the expansion were lease obligated to obtain LEED© certification. Destiny USA was formally recognized as the largest LEED Gold certified commercial building in the world on February 6, 2012 from the United States Green Building Council (USGBC).
