Mets to Host Irish Heritage Night at Citi Field on Friday, Aug. 1 vs. The San Francisco Giants

NY MetsFlushing, N.Y. - The New York Mets announced Irish Heritage Night will take place this Friday, August 1 at Citi Field when the Mets host the San Francisco Giants at 7:10 p.m.

Dubbed by Jimmy Fallon as "New York City's house band for the last 30 years," Black 47 will perform on the Mets Plaza, located outside the Jackie Robinson Rotunda, beginning at 6:00 p.m. as part of their farewell tour. Fans will be entertained by on field pre-game performances beginning around 6:30 p.m. by Irish Step Dancers as well as in-game programming that celebrates Irish culture.

Sixth Annual Walleye Challenge Ice Fishing Tournament Gives Back to the Great Sacandaga Lake

The Walleye Challenge this year was held on held on January 25 on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Event Coordinators Lou Stutzke (Owner of Fuel-N-Food of Mayfield), Hank "Beaver" Ross and Fulton County Director of Tourism, Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, presented the check to Randy Gardinier of the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation at a recent ceremony at the Fulton County Visitors Center in Vail Mills.

Wilmington, N.Y. --- Although work is underway to repair the Whiteface Mountain Veterans' Memorial Highway, organizers of the 37th annual Whiteface Mountain Uphill Foot Race, say that the race will go on as scheduled, Saturday, Sept. 13. "The current construction will cause minimal effect to the event," said race organizer and director of the Whiteface Mountain Regional Visitors Bureau Michelle Burns. "I'm confident that racers will enjoy their experience this year, just like they have over the past 36 years of this race."

Beginning Saturday, July 5, extreme tubing will be available Tuesday through Saturday from 3:30-6:30 p.m.  Additional hours are also being offered Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from noon- 2 p.m.

Paddlers to ‘Rock the Locks’ on Oswego River Canal June 21

Kayakers stop in front of the old Brosemer beer cave near MinettoOswego, N.Y. - For close to a century, the Oswego branch of the Erie Canal ran adjacent to the Oswego River and was an important part of the historic waterway. Only remnants of that canal exist today. Paddlers will have a chance to glimpse sections of the old canal Saturday, June 21, in the Oswego "Rock the Locks" Paddlefest.

Paddlefest gives paddlers of all ages and abilities the opportunity to paddle sections of the river and through the locks as a group, followed by food and music at the Lock 7 park in Oswego.

Gloversville, N.Y. - The Fulton County Tourism Department of the Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Peck's Lake Protective Association (PLPA) are presenting the Fifth Annual Peck's Lake Challenge Sprint Triathlon to be staged at Sunrise Bay on Peck's Lake in Fulton County, NY on Saturday, August 2. The event is comprised of a ½ mile swim, a 9 mile bike ride, and a 3 mile run.
