2015 Erie Canalway Calendar17,500 Free calendars distributed across upstate NY Waterford, N.Y. - The public is invited to pick up a free 2015 Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor calendar starting December 1, 2014 at selected libraries and visitor centers throughout the National Heritage Corridor. Each month features one of twelve winning images from this year's Erie Canalway photo contest. The calendar captures the unique beauty, history, and character of New York's canals and canal communities.

Albany, N.Y. - The Albany County Convention & Visitors Bureau (ACCVB) and the Albany County Convention Authority (ACCA) recently released a high quality video highlighting Albany County as an exciting and multifaceted destination. This video serves as an introduction to Albany encouraging viewers to discover Albany through the destination tourism website, Albany.org, and additional collateral materials.

The 90 second video provides a glimpse of Albany showcasing its sights, cuisine, and events and will entice viewers to discover more by visiting Albany.org.

Saratoga and Warren County Tourism Offices Join DONYS in Hosting Group Travel Show

Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - Over 60 group tour and international receptive operators, and 120 group leaders, will be in attendance at the Annual Destinations of New York (DONYS) Group Travel Show taking place on Tuesday, September 9th at the Saratoga Springs City Center. Exhibitors will represent attractions, transportation, accommodations, restaurants, entertainment and travel promotion agencies from up and sown the east coast. Those companies will book group tour business for five or more years out, making a considerable return on their investment in attending the trade show. In addition to the Trade Show, attendees will go on area familiarization tours of both counties and participate in seminars specifically for the group tour market.

Agritourism Overnight Stay Packages Sought

Gloversville, N.Y. - The Fulton Montgomery Regional Chamber of Commerce and the Montgomery County Business Development Center are seeking tourism facilities and agricultural businesses to participate in agritourism packages for the CNY Fresh campaign.

Fulton and Montgomery Counties participate in the CNY Fresh marketing campaign, a 10-county regional project designed to highlight the agritourism opportunities throughout all of Central New York. CNYFresh.com has become a tourist destination focused on the many flavors of our region by creating themed packages and itineraries, highlighting agricultural businesses and event listings.

Campaign to Promote Agriculture and Food Tourism Across Federally-Designated Appalachian Region in New York State

Tioga County, N.Y. - The Appalachian Regional Commission (ARC) and the New York Department of State today kicked-off New York's "Bon Appétit Appalachia!" campaign to promote agriculture and food tourism across the federally-designated Appalachian region, which covers portions of 13 states in the U.S., including 14 counties in the Empire State. The initiative will highlight distinctive local food attractions among six categories: farms, farmers markets, restaurants, festivals, wineries and brewery/spirits.

Clayton, N.Y. –  Spider Rybaak, author of several guidebooks for anglers, will speak on Fishing in the 1000 Islands in All Seasons at 1pm at the Clayton-1000 Islands Gun and Sportsmen Show in Clayton on Sunday, August 17. Rybaak, who has spent the last 25 years writing about fishing, is the author of Fishing Eastern NY, Fishing Western NY, and Fishing the Great Lakes of NY: A Guide to Lakes Erie and Ontario, Their Tributaries, and the Thousand Islands. His latest book, Fishing Oneida Lake, is scheduled for release early in 2015. He is currently working on a guide to fishing in the Adirondacks.

Project Healing Waters Coming to Clayton-1000 Islands Gun & Sportsmen Show August 16-17

Photo: Oswego County Tourism Clayton, N.Y. -  Military families with wounded warriors and anglers with a passion for fly fishing will be able to learn more about Project Healing Waters at the Clayton-1000 Islands Gun & Sportsmen Show August 16-17, 2014 at Cerow Recreation Park Arena, 615 East Line Road, in Clayton, NY.   The nonprofit Project Healing Waters began at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, DC in 2005. Wounded soldiers returning home from Iraq and Afghanistan learned how to tie fishing flies and were paired with volunteers on fishing trips to promote physical and mental healing.
