Fulton County Tourism Celebrates the 20th Annual $10,000 “Bet on Fulton County Raffle”

Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, Fulton County's Director of Tourism said, "I'm grateful to the community for their support of our tourism program and am pleased with the attendance during the evening's festivities.  We are fortunate to have held this raffle for 20 years and to still have the continued support each year."

Destiny USA venues participate in Dine-Out for two-year anniversary

Ten restaurants will offer three-course meals for $25 per person for week-long event

The Summer Fun Day Pass also provides family and couple options throughout the month

 

Syracuse, N.Y. - Ten of Destiny USA's restaurants are holding a Dine-Out from Friday, August 1 to Saturday, August 9, as part of Destiny USA's two-year anniversary celebration.

Each venue will offer a three-course meal for $25 per person. Check with the individual establishments for their menus and offers provided during the meal.

Syracuse, N.Y.- Destiny USA celebrates its two-year anniversary on Saturday, August 2. The shopping, dining and entertainment destination was rebranded from Carousel Center to Destiny USA on August 2, 2012, after the expansion opened to the public. It's been a busy year for Destiny USA between its increased tourism outreach, expanded programming and new marketing initiatives.

Tupper Lake is All Over New York City

Wild Center in NYCTupper Lake, N.Y. - This month millions of commuters are getting a taste of Tupper Lake and the Adirondacks, courtesy of a brand new ad now running on subways, buses and signs in and around New York City. The ad features an image from the Raquette River taken by Wild Center board member, Rick Godin, a few years ago.

Hillarie Logan-Dechene, the Center's Director of Philanthropy, recently attended the Governor's Tourism Summit and was approached by an I LOVE NEW YORK staff member who wanted to include the Center in their ‘Get Outta Town' campaign. I LOVE NEW YORK, the state tourism bureau, launched the campaign last year, encouraging those in New York City to explore other areas of the state.

Sixth Annual Walleye Challenge Ice Fishing Tournament Gives Back to the Great Sacandaga Lake

The Walleye Challenge this year was held on held on January 25 on the Great Sacandaga Lake. Event Coordinators Lou Stutzke (Owner of Fuel-N-Food of Mayfield), Hank "Beaver" Ross and Fulton County Director of Tourism, Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, presented the check to Randy Gardinier of the Great Sacandaga Lake Fisheries Federation at a recent ceremony at the Fulton County Visitors Center in Vail Mills.

Top Expert to Speak on the Battle of Oswego July 16

1814 Attack on Fort OswegoOswego, N.Y. - Colonel Harold Youmans, U.S.A. Retired, will present an illustrated lecture entitled "Eight Days in May, the British Raid at Oswego, New York," Wednesday, July 16 at 7 p.m. in the Enlisted Men's Barracks at old Fort Ontario.

Colonel Youmans will bring new information and insights into the May 5-6, 1814 British amphibious attack on Oswego intended to delay American ship construction at Sackets Harbor. The attack resulted in the destruction of Fort Ontario, military warehouses, and the capture of cannon, munitions, naval stores, and supplies.

Directory of Canal Sites and Museums Now Available

Erie Canal Site DirectoryWaterford, N.Y. - Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor has produced a new directory of canal sites and museums to introduce New York State residents and visitors to more than 45 sites all along the NYS Canal System. The directory is available at numerous canal sites and visitor centers along the Erie, Oswego, Cayuga-Seneca, and Champlain Canals.

"Summer is the perfect time for families and visitors to explore New York State's historic canals," said Bob Radliff, Director of Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor. "Whether traveling by boat, bike, or car, the directory will help people find their way to interesting places."
