Clayton, NY -- Those who attend the Rotary Club of Clayton’s “Taste of the Town” event on Saturday, February 28th at the Clayton Opera House on Riverside Drive in Clayton will not only enjoy the best locally produced foods and wines, they will be helping the Rotary International END POLIO NOW campaign.
Rotary Clubs around the world are raising $200 million to match $355 million in challenge grants from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to end polio. Rotary partners with the World Health Organization, UNICEF and the US Centers for Disease Control to support global polio immunization efforts. Only four countries in the world – Afghanistan, India, Nigeria and Pakistan - are considered endemic for the disease that causes paralysis. The Rotary funding also supports surveillance in polio-free countries to evaluate the cause of new cases of acute paralysis.
All proceeds from the Saturday, February 28 Taste of the Town event will support the END POLIO NOW campaign. A Chocolates Basket by Sue Tanner is among door prizes. Among those who will be offering food and wine tastings and products for sale at Taste of the Town are:
