Belleayre Mountain Celebrates Woodstock's 40th Anniversary with Reggae Legends and a Free, Family Festival Highmount, NY (Aug. 17) - A music-loving tradition lives on this weekend at Belleayre Mountain, in time for the 40th Anniversary of the most famous musical concerts ever: Woodstock. On Saturday evening, the Belleayre Conservatory will host the late Bob Marley's accompanying band, The Original Wailers, and a brand-new family festival, Kidstock on Sunday afternoon. Original Woodstock lovers are encouraged to make Belleayre Mountain their celebratory spot for Roll and Roll's past, giving them a chance to pass their music loving torch on to the next generation. Reggae fans have already been planning for the most anticipated Saturday night concert of the summer, as all seats under the tent are going fast. Beginning at 8:00pm the Original Wailers will jam to mountain visitors, throughout the night at the sprawling outdoor venue. Opening act, Ila Mawana will prepare the crowds with afro reggae rhythms that also represent funk and dub, creating a groovable, positive scene for the night's following, world-class act. Tickets are still available for purchase by visiting www.belleayremusic.org or by calling the Conservatory at (845) 254-5600. On Sunday, August 23rd from 12:00pm-5:00pm, all are invited to experience KIDSTOCK, a musical journey that features the talented varieties from Rock n' Roll History. Co-Producer of the original '69 festival, Michael Lang, has helped to organize an afternoon that will feature activities such as a Musical Woodland Journey and a Rocker's Little Tike Fashion Show. The venue is free of charge and will feature Uncle Rock and the Playthings, doing musical interpretations from bands such as the Ramones, Janis Joplin, and the Beatles. Paul Green's School of Rock All Stars, the inspiration for Jack Black's movie will follow, performing "their Tribute to Woodstock." All visitors are encouraged to dress up like their favorite rocker to commemorate their legacies in music history. The festival also boasts social consciousness, as its proceeds are to benefit Friends of Snuffy, a local animal food pantry. A Silent Auction and animal food donation table will be organized to collect money that will help to purchase food for pets whose families are under current economic stress. Other fun activities and performances include an air guitar contest, hula hooping, and a children's clothing swap. A memorable experience for kids of all ages and nostalgic afternoon for all adults, Kidstock will truly rock. Belleayre Mountain is a year-round outdoor recreation area in the Catskill Mountains operated by the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation.
