Here I come ...Oswego, NY - Thanks to the support of Eagle Beverage and Budweiser, Harborfest will be bringing one of the most recognizable performers of the ‘60's, THE MONKEES Lead Singer, MICKY DOLENZ to the shores of Lake Ontario for a thrilling live performance on the NRG Lakeview Stage in Breitbeck Park on Friday night July 24th during Harborfest 2009. Dolenz began his professional career as a 10 year old child actor in the television series, Circus Boy, which aired on NBC from 1956-1958, and guest starred on a number of other television shows while in his teens.    Following a successful audition, Dolenz landed the role as the Lead Singer for THE MONKEES and starred in the TV show about the band.  THE MONKEES achieved great success as recording artists with the groups' first five albums going gold and three consecutive number singles, including their debut single, ‘Last Train to Clarksville' that featured Dolenz on lead vocals. After THE MONKEES television show ended, Dolenz continued his professional career starring in Harry Nilsson's West End Musical, "The Point" in London; producing and directing television shows for the BBC; and directing the featuring film "The Box," written by Michael Palin and Terry Jones of Monty Python fame. Returning to the U.S., Dolenz continued his directing career with projects for the Disney Channel and Harmony Pictures, and others.  His role in THE MONKEES and the group's importance in the music history re-surfaced in 1986 when MTV began to broadcast episodes of THE MONKEES television show.  The exposure introduced a whole new generation to Monkeemania, leading Dolenz and MONKEES band mate, Peter Tork to record new tracks including the first Top 20 hits since 1968, "That Was Then, This Is Now."  The two subsequently reunited with Davey Jones for a summer tour in 1986 that was so successful it sparked the reissue of all THE MONKEES' classic albums as well as a new release resulting in THE MONKEES having seven albums on Billboard's Top 200 LP's Charts in 1987. In 1996, THE MONKEES again joined together this time for a "30 Year Reunion" summer tour around America. The response was such that they toured again the following year, this time finishing up in England. More recently Micky has spent more time behind the camera, including directing for the Michael Jacobs Production ABC/Disney hit TV show Boy Meets World, staring Ben Savage, which aired earlier this year. This summer THE MONKEES Lead Singer, MICKY DOLENZ will bring his exciting stage show to Harborfest 2009 with a live performance on the NRG Lakeview Stage on Friday night, July 24th.  This free performance, which is sponsored by Eagle Beverage and Budweiser, promises to provide festivalgoers with an entertaining evening of great music and fond memories.
