Following the procedure used in previous years, preliminary analysis indicates:                     3,749,205 people utilized non-resident lodging facilities;              -         582,898 persons stayed at local campgrounds;              -         42% of visitors are from within New York State;                        -         17.33 % of visitors are from New Jersey,                         followed by Massachusetts at 6.5% and Connecticut at 5.44%;              -         Average of 2.79 people per room registration;              -         Average stay of 3.2 days;              -         81.25% of all guests made advanced reservations;              -         19% of patronage was business related. Based on expenditures which include lodging, meals, transportation, entertainment, etc., an estimate of probable Tourism expenditures in 2008 was $617,108,244.
