Fonda, N.Y. - The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recently unveiled Montgomery County's new tourism website at Arkell Museum in Canajoharie. The new site, www.visitmontgomerycountyny.com was created to enhance the user friendly experience and increase the web presence of Montgomery County. It features an interactive map that enables the user to develop their own itinerary as well as plot areas they'd like to visit within their travel destination.

According to an article posted on February 18, 2009 on Blizzard Internet Marketing, 86% of travelers use the Internet for travel decisions. "We recognize the increase in internet usage for making travel decisions and wanted to give visitors a comprehensive view of all of the wonderful things Montgomery County has to offer in an easy-to-find way," explains Tourism Director, Gina DaBiere-Gibbs. "The map and site highlight attractions, lodging and dining, events and so much more. It is informative, fun and concise."

The site, designed by Chamber Member Shannon-Rose, gives attractions and tourism-related businesses the opportunity to promote their site at a critical time when people are looking at ways for cost-effective promotion. An additional feature of the site is the capability to continually and easily add information, change content and add current event photos. "The tourism community is invited to add their events, send us photos of their sites and festivals and take advantage of this marketing opportunity," continues DaBiere-Gibbs. "The site is a tool for visitors and residents and the more information that is posted, the better we can promote Montgomery County and our attractions."

"What a great website," states Lynda Z. Marino, owner of Stone Rose Bed and Breakfast. "It is so easy to navigate. I am sure it will only enhance and increase tourism in Montgomery County. I know a great deal of work went into the design and detailed information and it sure shows. It is very professional."

Leigh Haberek of Quality Express Printing adds, "I just wanted to give you a huge congratulations on the new tourism site- WOW!!!! Very appealing, easy to understand and browse through, and a ton of information!!!"

DaBiere-Gibbs also touched on some of her tourism goals for 2009/2010 including more on-line marketing, developing a cultural festival, increased participation in lodging and attraction surveys, and customer service programs. Anyone interested in getting involved in these initiatives or information on the website should contact Gina at 853-1800, ext. 12 or tourism@montgomerycountyny.com Photos can also be emailed to tourism@montgomerycountyny.com for possible inclusion on the website.
