Old Westbury, NY - Mark your calendar and get ready for a full weekend of family entertainment, great music and beautiful sights with exciting performances by the renowned Chamber Players International and their ever-popular "Long Island Mozart Festival, 2009" one of Long Island's premier outdoor cultural events. For the third year in a row, the Festival will take place at Old Westbury Gardens located at 71 Old Westbury Road between Jericho Turnpike and the Long Island Expressway; this year's festival dates are Oct. 2, 3, and 4. This year, the Chamber Players are proud to introduce several new elements to this outdoor family event, including a children;s Music Fair, lectures on "Classical Music and Nature," and interactive concerts for families. Chamber Players Int'l will kick off festivities the evening of Friday, October 2 at 8 pm with a concert of Mozart Masterpieces, Piano Concertos No. 24 and 27 with Russian pianist extraordinaire, Tatiana Goncharova and the Mozart Festival Chamber Orchestra. On Saturday Oct. 3 and Sunday, Oct. 4, the LI Mozart Festival will open at 11 a.m., featuring day-long pre-concert events including children's activities, dance and fencing demonstrations, tours of Old Westbury Gardens, lectures on "classical music and nature," plus carriage rides, wine tasting, a food court and more. The Mainstage concert will be at 2pm featuring renowned violinists Anna Rabinova and Dmitri Berlinsky, and the LI Mozart Festival Chamber Orchestra conducted by Daniel Boico, recently named assistant conductor of the New York Philharmonic. These magnificent programs in the exquisite setting of Old Westbury Gardens are presented at a very reasonable price to the public and parking is free. TENT SEATING, close to the stage, is $25 per person. Festival subscriptions for any combination of concerts are also available. These can be purchased in advance OR on the "day-of." LAWN SEATING is $10 for adults; $7 for senior citizens; $5 for students while children under the age of 6 are admitted at no cost. These can be purchased only on the "day-of." Note: Your tent seat or lawn seat, admits you to all the activities and concerts that day. The first Long Island Mozart Festival was first presented at the Tilles Center in 1986 where the program included concertos and works by Mozart and Haydn. The Festival then moved to the Planting Fields Arboretum in Oyster Bay. This one-of-a kind classical music event on Long Island has grown through the years, and in 2007, began its residency at the elegant Old Westbury Gardens.
