montgomery-county-fair.JPGFonda, NY – The Montgomery County Chamber of Commerce recently assisted the Fonda Fair Board with their grand opening ribbon cutting for the 168th Fonda Fair. “This great tradition brings visitors to the area each year to celebrate Montgomery and Fulton Counties’ agriculture, local businesses, attractions, and much more,” states Gina DaBiere-Gibbs, Montgomery County Tourism Director. “The Chamber is pleased to be a part of this celebration.” Senator Hugh T. Farley was on hand to cut the ribbon along with the Fonda Fair Board and princesses. Chuck Schwartz, In-Coming Chair for the Chamber, presented Jake Sammons, Fair Promoter, with a congratulatory certificate for keeping this treasure alive. The Fonda Fair received the Barbara V. Spraker Tourism Award in 2006. This award is presented by the Chamber to an individual, event, business, or attraction that has done an outstanding job each year in bringing tourists to Montgomery County. Nominations for the fifth annual Barbara V. Spraker Tourism Award are now being accepted. Anyone is eligible to nominate an individual, event, business, or attraction related to tourism. The entry deadline is September 28. The recipient will be announced at The Chamber’s annual tourism dinner in October. The nominees will be announced before hand.
