tuxedo-ridge.jpgTuxedo, N.Y. - Tuxedo Ridge Ski Center at Sterling Forest (http://www.tuxedoridge.com/) is celebrating the Winter Olympics the week of February 12-20. The holiday period is jam-packed with family friendly events inspired by the Olympics and winter fun! With a calendar full of events, Tuxedo Ridge altered some Olympic favorites to make them more family friendly. For example, one of the first events scheduled is the Olympic Torchlight Ski/Snowboard Parade on Saturday, February 13. The torches will actually be glow sticks and flashlights, making the parade safe enough so all ages can participate and enjoy the parade. Tuxedo Ridge also put their own spin on a popular event used in many Olympic sports; the relay race. We wanted to create a relay event that would be fun to watch or participate in, require some fitness without being strenuous, but also involve one of our specialties, said Krista Witterschein, Director of Marketing. Suddenly, Snow Tubing Relays were born! Teams of four will take turns sliding down the slope then running the tube up a center lane to the next station. Witterschein believes competition will be fierce but the action should be hysterical to watch. The final big event of Presidents week at Tuxedo Ridge is the Biathlon. Yes, a biathlonbut with paintball guns! The First Annual Downhill Paintball Biathlon will be take place on Friday, February 19 at 3pm and 5pm and open to ages 10 and up. While the three Olympic inspired events above do require some athleticism, there will be plenty of other fun activities happening such as a Scavenger Hunt, Tug-O-War, Pie Eating Contest, Snow Castle Building Contest, Crazy Hat Day and more!
