cayuga-county.jpgMay 13-15, 2010 Cayuga County, N.Y. - Local Tourism Leaders working in collaboration with I Love NY are hosting an Israeli Media Familiarization Tour May 13th - 15th.  The program was organized by Kay Tours, a major tour operator and wholesaler based in Tel Aviv and their airline partner El Al Israel Airlines.  The goal of I Love NY staff and tourism officials throughout New York State is to promote exciting and unexpected travel experiences and destinations found along the Erie Canal and the regions the canal flows through.   New articles, features and TV spots have already been committed and the aim is to increase the number of visitors taking Kay Tours throughout New York State with specific focus on the regions being highlighted along the Erie Canal. Five journalists from prominent Israeli news media were welcomed to New York State on Tuesday and are on a five-day educational itinerary that will take them from Albany to Rochester to the Buffalo-Niagara region.  The group will be in the Finger Lakes region from Thursday through Saturday with stops that include Fair Haven, the Erie Canal Museum in Syracuse, Camillus Aqueduct, wine tasting along Route 5 and 20, Women's Rights National Park, murals in Lyons, a Finger Lakes Culinary Bounty dinner at Belhurst Castle, a ride on the Sam Patch, the Lilac Festival and the New York Wine & Culinary Center.  In Cayuga County, the group will be visiting the Pleasant Beach Hotel in Fair Haven, which has been welcoming visitors to the shores of Little Sodus Bay for 100 years.  In addition, the tour will stop at Izzo's White Barn Winery for a wine tasting en route to Geneva.  Izzo's is Cayuga County's newest winery and is located just off the historic Route 5 and 20.  "These types of media tours are very important to our tourism marketing program," states, Meg Vanek, executive director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism.
