Generations restaurant and Straight Shot spirits program receive honors from Sante magazine Lake Placid, N.Y. - Sante, the magazine for Restaurant Professionals recently presented two distinguished Sante Awards to Generation's, the restaurant and Straight Shot, the bar at the Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort in Lake Placid, New York. Now in their 13th year, the Sante Awards recognize excellence in restaurant food, wine, spirits and service hospitality. The Sante Awards were presented on November 9 at the Villageo Inn and Spa in Yountville, California. What makes receiving a Sante Award so significant is that the Sante Awards program is the only peer judged national restaurant and hospitality competition in North America. Generations won a Culinary Hospitality Award, honoring restaurants and professionals that exhibit outstanding achievement in culinary service and hospitality for - Sustainable Culinary Restaurant, for their outstanding eco-friendly restaurant designed by Executive Chef David Hunt, who working with regional farmers designs and maintains the menu and food to be a sustainable and natural as possible. Generations won the award for the Mid-Atlantic region of the country spanning from Washington DC north to the Canadian border. Straight Shot - the bar at the Golden Arrow won the Sante Spirits Hospitality Award, which honors restaurants and professionals that exhibit outstanding achievement in spirits service and hospitality. Straight Shot won the award in the Hotel/Resort Bar category for the Mid Atlantic region of the country. Other winners included Flying Fish Café - Lake Buena Vista, Florida; Petrossian - Las Vegas, Nevada; Riviera Palm Springs - Palm Springs, California, and Top of the Mark - San Francisco, California. " Receiving this award recognizes all that we are working to achieve in having the food and menu at Generations to be as sustainable as possible. We are working to bridge the gap between farmers and chefs, and it's working", stated chef David Hunt. Since beginning their Green initiative in 2005, The Golden Arrow Lakeside Resort has been a leader with creating environmental friendly green programs, amongst hotels and resorts in New York State and nationally.
