Dress for Winter and Get a Lift Ticket to Whiteface Saratoga, N.Y. --- Skiers and riders in New York's Capital region have one more chance to win free Whiteface lift tickets when the mountain's "Road Warriors" visit Saratoga, N.Y. this Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 21-22. Armed with lift tickets for the 2010-'11 season, and other great giveaways, the Road Warriors can be found at several locations throughout Saratoga. What do you need to do to win? It's easy and forget what the thermometer will read. The Road Warriors will be calling on all one piece ski suits and retro gear when they visit Congress Park from 10 a.m.-1 p.m.; the Alpine Sports Ski Shop, from 3-4 p.m.; the Horseshoe, from 6-8 p.m.; or the Ice House, from 8-10 p.m.; Saturday. If you're spotted, you'll win lift tickets and other special prizes. Show up wearing your winter ski gear, including a helmet, goggles, skis or ski boots and you'll also win lift tickets. On Sunday, the Warriors will be outside the race track, from 10 a.m.-noon and at a secret location, which will be announced on the Whiteface Facebook page. Whiteface boasts the East's greatest vertical drop, and was recently named to the Top Five Resorts in the East in SKI Magazine's Reader Resort Survey 2010. The mountain also received kudos for Après Ski Activities (No. 4), Scenery (No. 5), Challenge and Family Programs (No. 6), Lodging (No. 6), Overall Value (No.7), and Terrain/Variety (No. 8). Whiteface/Lake Placid also earned the distinction of being #1 in the nation for Off-Hill Activities for the 17th straight year. Whiteface was also chosen by SnowEast Magazine readers as the East's favorite resort. Whiteface topped such resorts as Sugarloaf and Sunday River, both in Maine, and even Killington, in Vermont. More than 3,500 readers took part in the poll and they also tabbed Whiteface as the most scenic resort and their favorite destination village.
