Adam Miller Toys and Bicycles - Batavia, NYAuburn, N.Y. - Travelers of Routes 5 and 20 have a new resource at their fingertips-a blog called Dashboard Diaries. Drawing from the popular "Best of the Best" pocket map published by the Routes 5 & 20 Committee, Dashboard Diaries takes a fresh look at some of the unique eateries, activities, scenic spots, and shops that stud the highway between Skaneateles and Batavia. The new blog lives online at Routes5and20.com, a site maintained by an alliance of chambers and visitor bureaus along the road. "The blog will highlight some of the best things to do along Routes 5 and 20," says Meg Vanek, executive director of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism, "We are encouraging people to add their own comments to the blog and share their special tips for making the most out of a Route 5 and 20 driving tour." The blog already contains entries from across five counties, with a focus on those places and activities rated "best of the best" in a local survey. In Cayuga County, blogs have already been written about such well-known places as Hunter's Dinerant, Bambino's Bistro, and the Schweinfurth Memorial Art Center. A team of third-party reviewers is continuously traversing the road in order to provide new reviews and seasonal content, and more entries will be added all the time. "The signs on the car gives them away," says Vanek. "They're shaped like big NYS license plates, but with the Routes 5 and 20 logo." Log on to Routes5and20.com to plan an itinerary, read comments, view photos, and share your thoughts about the special places along this "Authentic American Road."
