Saratoga Springs, N.Y. - Famed wine connoisseur, educator and best-selling author Kevin Zraly will be featured at the Saratoga Wine & Food and Fall Ferrari Festival, September 10, 11 and 12. Zraly, who has been described as "America's most famous and entertaining wine teacher," is the author of Windows on the World Complete Wine Course, the best-selling wine book in US history. Zraly will teach a seminar on Italian wines and serve as auctioneer for Live Auction of Luxuries at the Grand Tasting on Saturday, September 11.  The event, presented by the Italian Trade Commission, is a fundraiser to benefit the education programs of Saratoga Performing Arts Center and the Saratoga Automobile Museum. Zraly first gained acclaim as the creator of the famous wine list at the Windows on the World restaurant in New York City. First thought of as a white elephant, the restaurant grew in popularity, thanks to Zraly's award winning wine list. At one time, Windows sold more wine than any other restaurant in the world. During his tenure at the restaurant, Zraly also founded the immensely popular Windows on the World Wine School. The school, which continues today at Manhattan's Marriott Marquis on Times Square, has graduated almost 20,000 students. A self-educated oenophile with a bachelor's degree in education, Zraly has studied wine-making techniques in California and all the great wine regions of Europe. In his courses, Zraly - who describes himself as a "wine therapist " - does not try to explain the vast history and manifold aspects of wine regions and winemaking. He just helps regular folks understand what kind of wine lover they are. "I will not judge the wine for them," he says. "They must judge them for themselves what they're tasting, what they're smelling, what kind of foods would go well. It is not just about wine; it is about their own thresholds for taste and smell.... It's the Socratic method of understanding wine." His book, Windows on the World Complete Wine Course is the largest selling wine book in the United States with over 3 million copies sold. An updated silver edition of the best-selling book was recently released. Kevin also authored Kevin Zraly's American Wine Guide, the only book to cover all 50 states. Kevin has been featured in The New York Times, People magazine, The Wall Street Journal, GQ magazine, Newsweek, and USA Today, as well as many other publications. He has had a wine show on the TV Food Network and has been a featured guest on numerous radio broadcasts. Kevin has appeared on the major television networks in the United States including The Early Show on CBS and Live! with Regis and Kelly on ABC. Kevin Zraly's seminar on Italian wines is presented by the Italian Trade Commission and is one of several free seminars that will be offered at the Grand Tasting and Ferrari Concours on the grounds of Saratoga Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 11.
