Team I LOVE NY is bringing fans together by creating an online travel and tourism community 

Albany, N.Y. - I LOVE NEW YORK, the top-ranked number one Destination Marketing Organization (DMO) in North America on Twitter, is setting its sights on becoming the nation's number one DMO in its social media endeavors - and at virtually no cost to New York State. Just ten weeks into the program, I LOVE NEW YORK's Facebook page now has more than 100,000 total fans - nearly double the number prior to the initiative's launch. In less than a year since its launch, I LOVE NEW YORK's facebook has climbed to #4 in followers behind states that have long been in social media and have spent tens of millions of dollars promoting tourism. I LOVE NEW YORK's Facebook is racing to the top, recently gaining over 5,000 followers a week. "I LOVE NEW YORK is able to capture the attention of travelers by creating a community for New Yorkers and travelers all over the world to share experiences and share their love for all things New York," continued Peter Davidson, Executive Director of Empire State Development. By incorporating the user-generated content supplied by team members, I LOVE NEW YORK is motivating travelers to visit New York by providing travel information to potential visitors that is tailored to their needs. After joining, team members are asked to answer specific tourism questions or are asked to comment on different New York State topics. Select team members' ideas and suggestions that are posted on I LOVE NEW YORK's Facebook Wall are collected and displayed on iloveny.com and will be included in various travel and tourism publications produced throughout the year, including the 2011 I LOVE NEW YORK Travel Guide.
