belleayrelogo1.jpgHighmount, N.Y. - Winter is in full swing and the Belleayre event calendar is packed with fun family events. Winter Festival Week is nearly here as Belleayre celebrates our favorite season. It starts on Saturday, January 22 with the Kids Carnival in the Discovery Lodge from 11am - 1 pm which is followed by the Torchlight Parade down Lower Yahoo when darkness falls. The popular New Paltz band the Trapps will be playing that day in the Overlook Lounge. And don't forget the highlight of Winter Fest Week, the $20 midweek lift tickets from Monday, January 24 through Friday, January 28. The Winterfest Celebration week concludes with a Slopestyle Park Jam on January 29 sponsored by Stoked Mentoring. That will be followed that night by the Belleayre Conservatory honoring Kenneth Pasternak with the Spirit of the Catskills award at the annual black tie event, the Snowball, on January 30. Call Don Myers at 845-254-5600 x1361 to reserve your seat. The second annual 'Brits at Belleayre' ski race will happen January 22. The first 200 people to sign up for the race receive a $25 Lift ticket and the proceeds go to benefit the Wounded Warrior Disabled Sports Project, a program of Disabled Sports USA. The WWDSP provides year-round sports rehabilitation programs to severely wounded warriors from the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, including UK veterans. Wounded warriors and their families are provided all programs free of charge, including transportation, lodging, adaptive equipment and individual instruction. These programs rebuild self-confidence, promote fitness and reunite families in healthy, life-affirming activity. Helmets are required. An awards ceremony honoring the top male and female snowboarders and skiers will be held at 3pm outside of the Overlook Lodge. January 22 will be an official Press Day at Belleayre Mountain. All press and media are invited to visit Belleayre Mountain for a complimentary day of skiing and riding that includes breakfast and lunch, as well as mountain tour with our Superintendent Tony Lanza and a clinic with Don Boyce, the Director of Belleayre Mountain Ski School.
