cayuga-county-tourism.JPG Auburn, N.Y. - The Cayuga County Office of Tourism in partnership with I Love New York, Arena Travel, New York State Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, Erie Canalway National Heritage Corridor, Niagara Bound Tours and other tourism offices across the State will be hosting press from the United Kingdom on a familiarization tour of New York's Underground Railroad sites. The purpose of the tour is to increase visitation to upstate New York by highlighting historic sites, museums, and tours dedicated to interpreting the story of the Underground Railroad.  Encouraging people to visit these sites will not only honor the men and women who risked their lives in the name of equality and freedom, but will also drive tourism and help spur the local economy. Journalists from six different media outlets as well as a tour wholesaler from the United Kingdom will participate in the tour, which crosses New York State from Buffalo to New York City. In Auburn, the group will visit the Seward House Museum, Fort Hill Cemetery, and the Tubman Home, followed by lunch at the Springside Inn. This press tour is part of the Cayuga County Office of Tourism's ongoing public relations program to raise the profile of Cayuga County as a destination of choice in the Finger Lakes Region.
