Joe, Star Wars, Video Games, Comic Books & more Hempstead, N.Y. - The Long Island Toy Show is the only toy and collectible show on Long Island that focuses on video games, comic books, toys and much more. This toy convention on July 8 runs from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with early admission available from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. It is fun for the whole family and offers door prizes, games and a chance for guests to take pictures with popular television and movie characters, including those from Star Wars and Ghostbusters. The Long Island Toy Show is close to all major roadways, located at Hofstra University's Multipurpose Room (check the website for details). The Long Island Toy Show is admitting children under 12 for free! General admission is now available for $5 in advance online or $8 at the door. Early admission is $10 online and $15 in advance. Early admission gives those enthusiasts a chance to get a first look at the merchandise and an opportunity to buy one-of-a-kind items before they are gone. In addition, every advance admission ticket will be entered into a random door prize drawing. Fun items, like, Star Wars figures, Simpsons figures and other collectible toys are available for door prizes. Author Mark Bellomo will be on-site to sign books and take pictures. Bellomo recently published a new book titled, "Totally Tubular 80s Toys," a fantastic photography and information book focusing on 80s toys and culture. This entertaining and unique convention will also feature a group called the 501st Legion who are an all volunteer collection of Star Wars enthusiasts that appear at various Star Wars related events dressed in Star Wars costumes for various charities, such as Make-a-Wish and the Starlight Starbright Children's Foundation. The 501st legion dresses in various Star Wars costumes, such as, Darth Vader, Stormtroopers, Clone Troopers, Bounty Hunters, Sith Lords, among others. All guests are invited to dress in their favorite comic book, toy, television or movie character.
