Holiday Village Stroll Announces Dates, New Lodging Deals and Events
LAKE PLACID, N.Y. - As summer begins in New York's Adirondacks, committee members of one of the Northeast's top holiday festivals are already getting into the spirit - yes, in July. The Lake Placid Holiday Village Stroll slated for the weekend of December 12 - 14, celebrates its 7th year in 2014 - and this small-town festival will return with several new additions and special events.
The Holiday Village Stroll kicks off the holiday season each year with annual traditions including kid-friendly events and live music and shopping for grown-ups, too. Additional new and returning highlights for this year's event will include:
- A new opening Holiday Stroll celebration with skating party
- New craft-making and decorating events for kids
- New events for adults, including a mixology event
- New holiday character appearances and Santa breakfasts at participating hotels
- Enhanced ice carving demonstrations on Main Street
- Santa's arrival by fire truck
- The Jingle Bell 5K Walk/Run for all ages
- Annual Yule Log Hunt
- Traditional Christmas tree lighting with chorus
"The stroll is entirely volunteer run and thanks to huge community participation, we've grown tremendously since our first event seven years ago," said Mary Jane Lawrence, Chair of the Holiday Village Stroll planning committee. "2014 is going to be bigger than ever with new events and surprises in store, and we're getting excited to welcome everyone to our festive town."
