Capital Holiday Lights in the Park
Kids and grown-ups alike will ooh and aah at the 125 light displays in Albany's historic Washington Park. The 84-acre park, originally designed by Frederick Law Olmsted and Calvert Vaux, who created Manhattan's Central Park, is transformed into the perfect holiday wonderland. Extend the holiday cheer and wander the park through nightfall - the park isn't open until midnight, meaning you'll get home just in time to watch the ball drop! Spend New Year's weekend skiing Holiday Valley in style. Ski all day and all night up to the main event (beginners and advanced skiers welcome). The New Year's Eve Celebration and Torchlight Parade is the perfect way to cap off your year - and your weekend. First Night Saranac Lake New Year's Eve Celebration
Join hundreds of revelers in Saranac Lake for a night of music, stand- up comedy, art and live entertainment throughout the village.The party starts at 6p and ends at midnight when the ball on 2016 drops with a fireworks display over Lake Flower. Live performances include comedian Moody McCarthy as seen on Jimmy Kimmel Live, award-winning filmmaker Jim Griebsch and music from The Grip Weeds - just to name a few. Old Falls Street Family Fun NYE Party    
Magic tricks, arts and crafts, and a giant inflatable obstacle course are just some of the things your family will love at Old Falls Streets New Year's party. Live music and photo booths will make this annual favorite a night to remember. The ball drop at 10pm let's the kids get a taste of the magic and let's parents enjoy the final hour back home. First Night Saratoga

With more than 15-thousand people slated to be in attendance, dozens of venues in the area are working together to bring you the biggest and brightest First Night event that Saratoga has ever seen. This celebration is perfect if you're on a budget, as it is self-proclaimed to be the most affordable, accessible, family-friendly, safe and exciting way to spend New Year's Eve in the region. Saratoga Springs; Event runs 6pm through midnight

New Years Night Hike
Celebrate the end of 2017 with a nod to nature's marvels. The Seatuck Environmental Association will guide a walk into the woods to experience various nocturnal animal life the evening of December 31st. Bring a flashlight and let your kids be inspired by a special glimpse of the woods wildlife. The walk ends at 8p - perfect to get home, cozy up and nestle in to watch the ball drop. Islip; Hike lasts 6:30pm through 8pm

Times Square isn't the only place to ring in 2017 outdoors in NYC, a fireworks display and live music in Brooklyn's Prospect Park is the perfect way to stay cityside and celebrate the New Year. This year is the Park's 150th birthday - even more reason to celebrate. Boogie the night away and feast your eyes on the beauty of the fireworks at midnight.
