19th Century Baseball Game

Bayside Historical Society welcomes the New York Mutuals and the Brooklyn Atlantics to Fort Totten Park in Bayside, Queens for an unforgettable day of family fun and history. Participants will see a historical re-creation of a baseball game the way it was played back in the 1880s. The teams will wear replicas of the original 19th century baseball uniforms and use replica balls and bats from the time period. No baseball gloves, since those had not yet been invented. The players will answer questions from the audience and invite children to field grounders. This event is free and will take place on the Fort Totten Soccer Fields across from the BHS Castle, which will be open for tours. Bring your blankets, lawn chairs, and picnics. Parking will be available in Little Bay Park. The game starts at 11am, Saturday, October 12th, 2024. The scheduled rain date for this event is Sunday, October 13th, 2024.
