Barbecue Bash Quarters Race

Come walk or run any number of quarters of a marathon up to the whole 26.2 miles! Monroe County's only active road marathon, this unusual format allows racers do quarter-marathon (6.55 miles) laps one, two, three, or all four times. Unique to this race, if you bite off more than you can chew, you can drop down in quarters on race day and simply be moved to that race's competition instead of being disqualified.

This is the final race in the West of the River Series. For 2026, the marathon distance (all four quarters) is part of the Rochester Runner of the Year Series by Greater Rochester Running Club.


When registered early enough, racers are gifted a shirt. All racers also a single-serve barbecue kit for at home use, a race-themed amenity kit, and free raffle tickets. Racers are encouraged to bring a food donation for the Spencerport Food Shelf or a monetary donation for Cartons for Christmas.

Finishers get a medal, a trip through the barbecue buffet (substantial offerings for vegans and vegetarians, too), and tickets for the free raffle, including sauce from our premier sponsor, Texas Bar-B-Q Joint. Modest overall and age group prizes awarded. Overall awards for all four races (the quarter, two quarters, three quarters, and four quarters) include gift cards from Texas Bar-B-Q Joint! This year, HealthSource Chiropractic will be on hand for post-race recovery.
