Bard College's annual SummerScape festival features two action-packed months of performances from June through August. Head to the iconic Fisher Center or the one-of-a-kind Spiegeltent and experience amazing theater, dance, music and comedy all summer long!
"Jubilee"
• Inspired by Scott Joplin’s 1910 ragtime opera "Treemonisha," Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Suzan-Lori Parks has created a magical, hilarious, and timely fable about a young woman who leads her community out of adversity and into a new way of being. Set on the day after the Emancipation Proclamation, "Jubilee" joyfully asks what the world might become when all people are truly free. This staged reading of libretto for "Jubilee" offers audiences a rare opportunity to engage directly with the development of a major new musical, which the Fisher Center will premiere as a full production in the near future.
• Venue: LUMA Theater, Fisher Center
• Performances: July 11, 7 p.m.; July 12, 7 p.m.; July 13, 2 p.m.
