In collaboration with the NYS Office of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation, the Friends of the Bennington Battlefield present a “Cider and Donuts” Tour of the Bennington Battlefield in Walloomsac, NY, on Saturday, October 12, from 1 – 4 pm. David Pitlyk, Interpretive Programs Assistant, will conduct a comprehensive tour of all three main points of interest at the Park, and the Friends will offer cider and donuts to guests, as well as a pit cooking demonstration and craft activities for children. The event begins on “Hessian Hill” at the top of the Park at 1pm; after the first part of the tour, visitors will caravan with their cars to the Barnett House on Caretaker’s Road. There, beginning about 2 pm, the second phase of the tour will take place, followed by a visit to the Tory Fort on the other side of the Walloomsac River. Cider and donuts, the pit cooking demonstration, and the children's’ crafts will take place at the Barnett House location. Guests can attend all or part of the tour. This event is free and open to the public. Enjoy a lovely walk at a beautiful site, view the fall colors, and spend a fun day with the family!
