Diatoms: Jewels of the Sea

Join a quest for floating treasure with author/illustrator Betsy Franco-Feeney! After a lively reading of Jewels of the Sea...the Hunt for Floating Treasure, it will become crystal clear why the microscopic jewels called diatoms make life on earth possible. Participants will use a microscope to get a close-up look at live samples of diatoms collected from the Hudson River. Instructions on how to find and collect your own microorganisms will be included.
