On this tour, we’ll explore a tiny remnant of what was once a very large Village of Black Rock. We’ll learn about the people who created this community – including one very famous American – and see the homes, churches and public squares they left behind. Old Black Rock has one of the largest collections of pre-Civil War homes in Buffalo, and many of the homes and churches on this tour are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Come see a lot of history in a very small area!
Meet at Market Square Park at the corner of Amherst & Niagara Streets - use the address 10 Amherst Street, Buffalo NY 14207 for GPS. The docent will be standing next to the large "Black Rock" sign on the corner. There is on-street parking available nearby on Amherst and Dearborn Streets. This tour is 90 minutes and one mile in length; there are no restrooms and no benches along this tour route.
