This special workshop will offer participants a hands-on introduction to drypoint printmaking, a direct mark making intaglio technique utilized by artists such as Mary Cassatt and Berthe Morisot. Following a guided morning tour of the exhibition, Mary Cassatt/Berthe Morisot: Allies in Impressionism, participants will travel to the State University of New York at Oneonta where they will work with Professor of Art Rhea Nowak in the Art department printmaking studio to create their own drypoint prints using contemporary materials. Students will draw into plexiglass plates and learn how to ink, wipe, and print them using the studio’s printing press. They will also experiment with surface rolls to include some flat color elements. Participants should have experience with drawing and can bring potential sketches to work from to create their plates if desired. Material costs included in workshop price. Students will need their own transportation to travel to SUNY Oneonta for the afternoon printing portion. $130 Members, $150 Non-Members(Workshop takes place at Fenimore Art Museum and SUNY Oneonta.
