The Erie Canal has a rich heritage with the beer industry. Hops grown in new york and shipped on the canal once supplied breweries far and wide, and today some of the nation’s finest craft breweries are on or near the canal. September 20 through the 22, these brewers are taking to the water in the finger lakes town of Macedon to spread the word about New York’s craft breweries with the Erie Armada. The armada is a multi-day festival and boat race rolled into one, featuring breweries racing in teams with custom-made human-powered boats. The Armada also boasts music and grub from local food trucks and restaurants, plus chef demos from NY Kitchen & Taste NY, along with the star attractions – new beers created for the Armada by the competing breweries.
